Migration guide

Move from Notion to JustJot.ai
and start publishing

Export your Notion workspace as Markdown, import every page as an editable draft, and add what Notion can't do: a grounded AI co-writer that cites your own pages, a newsletter, and per-section paywalls that turn your knowledge into revenue.

How the migration works

  1. 1

    Export your Notion workspace

In Notion go to Settings → Export all workspace content → choose Markdown & CSV. You'll receive a ZIP file containing every page and database as Markdown files, preserving headings, lists, links, and nested structure.

  2. 2

    Import your pages as drafts

Open JustJot.ai and upload your Notion export ZIP (or individual Markdown files). Each page lands as a draft node with its original structure — headings, body, and links preserved — ready to review, edit, or publish immediately.

  3. 3

    Reorganise into Spaces

Group your imported drafts into JustJot.ai Spaces — the equivalent of Notion workspaces. A Space can be private (your personal knowledge base), shared with teammates, or made public as a community around your work.

  4. 4

Set up your newsletter and paywalls

Unlike Notion, JustJot.ai has a built-in newsletter: pick any published node and it fans out to your subscriber list. Add paid tiers to gate premium sections — individual sections of a post, not the whole thing.

  5. 5

Write your first post with AI

Draft with a grounded AI co-writer that searches your imported pages before writing — not the open web. It cites the exact passage from your own material, so your new content builds on your existing knowledge base.

What you gain by switching

Everything Notion does well, plus the publishing layer it leaves out.

A grounded AI that cites your own pages

Notion AI writes from generic training data. JustJot.ai's AI co-writer grabs the relevant passage from your own imported docs and cites it inline — so you build on what you already know instead of re-researching it.

Publish to the world, not just your team

Notion pages are workspace-private by default. JustJot.ai publishes a node to a public URL, a social feed, and an email newsletter with one click — your knowledge base becomes a product, not just an internal doc.

Per-section paywalls

Notion has no monetization. JustJot.ai lets you give a free preview of any post and cut to an upgrade card at exactly the section where the premium content starts — charge for your expertise without leaving the platform.

Owned subscriber list

Every subscriber who signs up through JustJot.ai is in a list you can export as a CSV anytime — no permission required, no platform lock-in. The audience you build is yours to keep.

Chat with your knowledge base

Drop a research question into source-chat and the AI answers from your imported Notion pages, citing the exact block it pulled from. Your personal knowledge base becomes conversational.

Social feed built in

Published nodes appear in JustJot.ai's For-You and Following feeds automatically. Readers can follow you, quote-post your work, and share it — distribution channels Notion's public pages don't have.

Common migration questions

Will my Notion page structure survive the import?

Notion's Markdown export preserves headings (H1–H3), paragraphs, bullet lists, numbered lists, and links. Tables export as CSV alongside the Markdown. JustJot.ai's importer reads the Markdown structure and converts it to block format — your outline stays intact.

What happens to my Notion databases?

Notion exports databases as CSV files alongside the Markdown. JustJot.ai can ingest the CSV rows as individual nodes (one row = one draft), or you can treat the CSV as raw data to work with in the AI data-analysis tool.

Can I keep my Notion workspace running while I migrate?

Yes. Exporting from Notion doesn't change or delete anything in your workspace. You can run both platforms in parallel, migrate pages gradually, and switch over on your own schedule.

Does JustJot.ai have the same block editor as Notion?

JustJot.ai uses a rich block editor with headings, paragraphs, lists, code blocks, embeds, and more. The key difference is that every block type is wired into a control-plane op — AI can run on any block, not just in a sidebar.

What about Notion AI — does JustJot.ai replace it?

JustJot.ai's AI co-writer is grounded in YOUR sources — it answers from your own imported pages and attached documents, with inline citations. That's different from Notion AI, which generates from generic training data without citations.

Can I invite my team to the migrated content?

Yes. JustJot.ai Spaces support team access with role-based permissions — viewer, editor, and admin. Invite teammates by email and they join the Space directly, the same way a shared Notion workspace works.
